Episode 6 is up.
In particleIllusion news, I have sent the master CD out to Cafepress, so unless customs holds it up for a few days, Cooking with particleIllusion should be available for order this week. I'm cutting the trailer/commercial for it now.
In writing news, I haven't done any writing at all in days and days, but I think I have finally figured out what was wrong with Pistachio the Tyrant. On Tuesday I'll begin rewriting one of the chapters I already wrote, and working out a more dramatic conclusion. I anticipate it being longer than the 150 pages I anticipated, maybe around 175.
I hadn't modeled anything in weeks, so I spent part of Thursday and Friday making a 3D Samurai Jack. He's pretty much finished, except for his robe which is half done. I am considering modeling Aku as well, if I can figure out how to handle the eyes and mouth in 3D.
I went to the comic convention in Toronto this afternoon and spent every cent I had. I went specifically to get Rumble Royale from The Royal Academy of Illustration and Design, and just about everything they've done that I hadn't picked up last year. I also stumbled onto an amazing comic called A Monk's Tale from Konsequential, plus a shirt and the cute little mini comic they were handing out. I was just about out of money by that point, but I picked up the first issue of the really cool Kissing Chaos and Puppethead from Oddity Comics. And of course, the new Lethargic Lad annual. The FamilyCircus spoof caused me to guffaw loudly. All in all, I came back completely content with what I'd bought, unlike last year where I spent about $40 on stuff that makes me cringe when I look at it, and the rest on great stuff. I was dissapointed that I didn't get Cameron Stewart's autograph on his sketchbook. Oh well...
In other news that isn't just a series of links to comics, I finished encoding the last video for Cooking with ParticleIllusion: A Recipe Video to Pixel Pyrotechnics. I have 25 emitters that I'll be including with the 40 minutes of videos so far, I hope the get that number up to 30 or more tomorrow before I burn everything to a cd and mail it off to Cafepress.
I also found out from Marvel's panel on getting a job there that they will be starting a new anthology series of Spidey and X-Men comics dedicated to showcasing new talents. So I am considering taking another stab at the webcrawler. I don't think I reallly expect to be given a shot, but why not try?
I just checked the webstats for the day, and page visits on the main page have quadrupled since Friday. It looks like 3dvf.com saw my site on another site, and gave me a few hundred hits by putting it up on their front page. It really makes me regret not having the french version of the comic up (something I've wanted to do for years, but my lousy french skills hold that back).
So thanks to all of you folks that have come here for the first time, and I hope you liked the comic enough to keep coming back!
I started working on a mushroom-cloud like blast emitter to do a vid tutorial on, and it's coming out really nice so far. At this point, it works really well with the exploding debris tutorial I did. The entire first pI tutorial cd will be based around pyrotechnics, so I think the 6th tutorial will be a fireworks one.
Some times things just move along nicely...
I just finished recording the voice over for a video tutorial on explosions. Once I throw it into Premiere, I will have about 27 minutes of my tutorial cd completed. I originally intended the whole thing to be an hour long, but I can't fit that much content on a single cd along with the support files, and have it all fit. So I'm hoping to do another one or two lessons at about 5 minutes each. If everything goes well, I'll have the whole thing ready to ship out to Cafepress by the end of next week.
On Tuesday afternoon, I found myself without any new work to bring to the writing group I go to. Every short story that I had started needed lots of research before I could continue writing anything. So at about 3pm, I started to panic thinking I would have nothing to bring. And then somehow, an idea for a mini vampire story popped into my brain, and about 3 hours later I had a completed 900 word story. It's now the second crime/horror story I've finished in the past while, and since I have a few more started vaguely in that genre, I think I will continue to write a good 10 or 12 and start sending them out to magazines. Though I don't particularly like the idea of being thought of as a horror writer if any of them do get picked up.
I also had a happy surprise yesterday morning. I found a link to Shocking Tales! on the front page of InsideCG.com. I had submitted a news item about the new strips to Deathfall.com last week, and they hadn't put up a link right away, but it was up on their front page too. So suddenly, there was traffic at the old comic strip.
Episode 3 goes up in about 9 hours. Until then...
