Got some new stuff up on the writing
page, specifically three old short stories recorded on my fancy
new mic. Hopefully this'll be the start of relatively regular updates to that
area of the site. Keeps me writing, and stops my mic and digital camera from being
expensive paperweights.
I'm working on another couple of stories now, one is a kid's story with some fantastical
bits in it, and another that's just a straight sci-fi action adventure that I hope
to make more like a radio play than what's up on the page now. Or at least more
along the lines of The Chocolate Egg story, where I mixed sound effects in
to add some atmosphere, but with dialogue as well as narration. On the subject of
the Egg, I have to say thanks a billion to Sandra DaCosta for recording it
for me, and some bits of dialogue for the other stories.
I'm deep into rendering out what's taken up a good chunk of my time the last few
months, this anime style thing. But at this point it looks like it'll take me a
good 100 days full time to get it all rendered at half the resolution I was aiming
for. I'm not quite at the point of giving up on the whole project yet, but I'm coming
close. Mental Ray is the slowest thing ever. I'm crossing my fingers
and hoping that now that vRay has been announced for XSI, it'll be out in
a few months. But that's not likely.
